Charles F. Shaffer collection, 1937-1941.

Contains a guest book, two photograph albums, a scrapbook dating from 1937-1941. The materials pertain to the Shaffers' time as school teachers on the Havasupai Reservation in Supai, Arizona, and subsequently at Dennehotso School also in Arizona. Many of the photographs are believed to be the work of Joseph Muench.

Charles Milton Shaffer, a native of Greensboro, N.C., attended the University of North Carolina, where he played football and received a B.S. in commerce in 1935. After several years in business, Shaffer returned to Chapel Hill in 1952 to be the University's director of development, a position he held until 1981.
